Personal Details
These are important so that we know who you are. Don't worry, we don't pass these onto our employers. We reveal your name and email address only when you agree to connect to an individual employer.
The detail here is not made public but helps us understand who is using our platform so that we can support you and make sure your matches are relevant to your requirements.
We will use your contact details to call, text or email you, in line with the preferences you define in your account settings and this will be to provide you with updates and advice to help you on your journey
How did you find us?
If you came to us via a learning provider, charity, school, university or any other referral, please let us know. We would love to know how you found us! It helps us reach out and provide more support to you or the organisation. The company may be on our list provided, or you can enter their name in the box provided
Skills
Tell us which technical skills you have. This helps us match you to our employers and the roles they have posted.
Your skills will evolve and grow so don't forget to keep this list updated as you learn more. You can access this from the 'Background' page of your profile.
This is a long list but we know there are more important skills out there that we might have missed, so if you don't find what you are looking for, please let us know and we will update the list!
Create Your Profile
We have 4 sections for you to complete:
Background
- Profile Summary - this is your chance to grab the attention of the employers. Introduce yourself (Remember not to mention your name or pass over any personal details) but give them the headlines. What you are passionate about, your key skill, what you are looking for. You have other opportunities to give the details - this gets their attention.
If you are having trouble writing this, come back after doing the rest of your profile and press the 'write with AI' button to give you inspiration. But remember, AI can be helpful, but this is an introduction to you, so make sure it sounds like you! - Now, tell us about your experience and education. But remember there is nothing you’re 'supposed' to be saying - so be yourself. Your experience can come from anything, so just make sure to highlight your individual skills. The more information you can provide about what makes you you, the better a match we can provide, so don’t hold back!
- We recognise that you may not have paid work experience before if you are looking for your first role. So add any experiences that provided you with skills that you can use in the workplace. This can be volunteer work, events participation / arrangement or work placements.
- Avoid only listing responsibilities - try to link these to skills or achievements
For example;
Co-ordinated a Bake Sale to raise money for my local school. I worked with a team of individuals who planned, advertised & successfully delivered the event. I handled the cash, reported and banked the proceeds and promoted the success to the school via email communication
Aspirations
- Tell us exactly what your expectations for your future opportunities are.
Is it the location that will be the selling point for you, or is it the industry? - Whatever you want for your future, have your say in this section! - Please remember if you aren’t sure what you want, that’s completely ok. You can always come back later and change your answers to any of these questions.
- Fill in your workplace priorities
Ask yourself - what is important to me when it comes to my future employer? Then, let us know if it’s the people, the environment, the benefits, or something else. - Read the Day One Company Charter. Whilst it might seem like a boring document, we can promise it isn’t - it will tell you what we expect from our employers, holding them accountable to their promises and ensuring that you have the best Day One experience.
Essence
- Strengths - Complete our Strengthscope activity - one of our 3 onboarding activities. This showcases your top 7 soft skills & strengths and helps us match you to roles where these are key attributes. You will receive a report that provides you in depth information into these strengths and how to use them in an interview
- Personal achievements
Anything that can showcase your transferable skills and show off more about you. Give example of how it benefits you in work. Don't be afraid to showcase what you can do outside of work eg, Supporting a family member through hard times or fundraising. Courses completed - if you haven't included elsewhere, or those you want to highlight again. If you did self study / home taught a difficult subject - you can highlight it here. - Leisure Time
This gives you a chance to show off what makes you, you. Sometimes leisure activities utilise forgotten strengths - team sports, solo sports, endurance events, AI & computer gameplay, board game champ. Consider if there is anything you do in your spare time that reflects soft skills like resilience, empathy, co-ordination. Eg. Travelling - co-ordinating large trips / for large groups
Taking Assessments
We have added 3 Onboarding activities for you to complete - these have been designed to verify your skills and show our employers that you have the skills needed to be ready for your first day.
- If desired (when available), you may choose to take 'specialist assessments' to showcase your expertise in particular fields.
And that's your profile complete! We can now start to match you to job postings and employers based on the details in your profile. Keep your profile up to date. You can see an overview of missing information from your dashboard or For You page
